From the capital of Poland, Warsaw, comes the post-rock four piece Cereus! The group defines its music more specifically than post-rock and calls post-prog or post-progressive. This style is the product of inspiration and influence from post-rock and post-metal music with the elements of alternative and progressive climate. Bands that were especially influential include ISIS, Caspian, Russian Circles and Marillion. The musicians that play in Cereus have acquired many years of musical experience, having previously played in various musical projects like Projekt NOD and Less is More.
Their latest song “Cassiopeia” was produced by Filip Krzyzykowski who along with the band tried to capture a real post-rock inspired sound with the track. The song begins with a tranquil guitar intro before exploding into a powerful and moving chorus from lead singer Michal Dabrowski. It’s a truly special track that will appeal to fans of many different genres. Cereus is currently working on their debut album, having released a three song EP last May which included the songs “Requiem,” “Abyss” and “Kraken King.” Be on the look out for more new music in the near future from this post-prog powerhouse.
