Album Review
Autopsy – “Macabre Eternal”
After an agonizing 16 year wait, legendary death metal pioneers Autopsy are back with a new full-length release, Macabre Eternal. From the very moment I turned this on, I was reminded why this band have always been held in such high regard by those in the business; these guys know how to crank out some serious death metal. Autopsy doesn’t miss a beat and Macabre Eternal seems to pick up exactly where they left off years ago.

The gory, tongue-in-cheek lyrics combined with a heavy, at times doomy metal assault really make this an enjoyable listen. Lead singer Chris Reifert lays down some incredible vocals that range from traditional death metal vocals to high pitched screams to eerie maniacal madman and just about everywhere in between. Bottom line, as far as death metal albums go, this one is a real gem. It has all the necessary extreme elements along with a few surprises that make it stand out in a crowded genre. Welcome back men!
