Album Review
Days Kill Winter
You Know You Want It [EP] (2006)
Oh yes, another Canadian band! This Screamo-ish band is straight out of Hamilton, Ontario and now I don’t know what a lot of people would classify Days Kill Winter (DKW), but they’re kinda emo, with a touch of metal, so therefore, Screamo. The band just released an EP titled You Know You Want It, which is actually the EP being covered in this review. Enjoy!
First off, the EP opens up with “Who Does My Girlfriend Have To Sleep With For Me To Get A Drink Around Here?” Wow… what a tongue twister, eh? Or to be literal, finger twister on my behalf. Anyways… I really enjoyed the contrast of screaming and singing, and the occasional times when they scream and sing in unison. Very good tune to start of the album.
Third up is “You Stay, The Shotgun Goes.” I know if my friend were to be holding a shotgun, I would take it away. But then again… most of my friends are psychotic. The instrumental in this track is pretty upbeat and the drums are kind of repetitive, with a bit too much symbol, but they’re still good nonetheless.
To conclude, I’d have to say this EP was pretty darn good. I look forward to their album being released in June or July. I’d pay to see this band play live and be sure to go to the show in Hamilton on July 8th for the band’s CD release party! I know I’ll be there! I’m gonna give this EP an 8/10. [ END ]
