Album Review
Lizzy Borden
Appointment With Death (2007)
When you hear of Lizzy Borden you might think, “They’re just another band from LA,” but in reality they are so much more. How many LA bands do you see rocking up shows in Sweden and Germany? It is a top honour for a band from America to be chosen to play the Sweden Rock Festival, considering Swedish metal is almost always exceptionally better.
Lizzy Borden is not exactly a well-known band. When you hear Appointment With Death you will most likely ask yourself, “Why the fuck aren’t they well-known?” I’m going to be honest with you: I am unable to process why this is the first time I have heard of them. With eight albums under their belt this is the first time I have caught wind of their music. I might just be blind, dumb, and deaf but I know I will be looking for their other albums.
My favourite track on this album would have to be “Perfect World (I Don’t Wanna Live)” because when I hear the song it gives me the feeling that they don’t like what our world is becoming. I know that they mean it in a different way, but I can’t help feeling as if they are trying to stop the pollution and crimes of today.
Appointment With Death is one of the very few albums that I would recommend to almost any listener. Usually I don’t recommend anything at all, but I think that everyone – who hasn’t already done so – should find this album and check it out for themselves. [ END ]
