Killer Hearts and LJ & The Sleeze Join Forces for Their New 7″ Split Premiere
Today, we are helping to unveil two monster tunes from LJ & The Sleeze and Killer Hearts as part of their new special 7″ split release via Eight Ball Record$.
Two great bands, two exceptional songs, one stand-out release. Today, we are helping to unveil two monster tunes from LJ & The Sleeze and Killer Hearts as part of their new special 7” split release via Eight Ball Record$. Killer Hearts’ contribution “High Temptress,” their first new music since the release of their debut album Skintight Electric last September, is a blistering display of rock n’ roll, tricked out with scorching solos and singalong choruses. LJ & The Sleeze’s track is a newly redone version of “I’m Bad,” one of the top tracks off of their Stay Sleezy album. This song veers more towards the punk rock side of things, with attitude and a savoury hook that pulls it all together.
Hailing from Houston, Killer Hearts is composed of members with a rich touring history in bands such as The Wrong Ones, Liberty & Justice, and Night Cobra. Their rock is anthemic, high energy, and has a vintage quality to it. Their debut EP Killer Hearts 7” was released in 2019, and since then they have focused on forming strong alliances with other like-minded bands via split releases. Splits with Trouble Boys, Hells Engine, and Babylon Bad Boys helped pave the way for Skintight Electric which really helped the band define themselves as a powerful rock act, capable of standing on its own two feet.
LJ & The Sleeze are more of a traditional punk rock outfit, a Richmond, Virginia quartet inspired by the New York and LA punk of the ‘70s and ‘80s. They came out guns blazing with their summer 2020 debut album Keepin’ It Sleezy which found an audience, despite the fact that the band was unable to tour. Their 7” Put Something Sleezy Between Your Legs followed last summer, four raw, raucous from the mind of Max Gottesman, the band’s undisputed leader. They recently returned to the studio and re-recorded each song from Keepin’ It Sleezy and Put Something Sleezy Between Your Legs, offering a more complete, musically tight recording that elevated the songs to a new level.
It’s bands and songs like these that help remind you that no matter what anyone tells you, rock n’ roll is alive and well.
