Christos Reflects on Becoming a “stranger” with His New Single Premiere
Brisbane, Australia, singer-songwriter Christos illustrates the many sides to him as an artist with his new single ‘stranger.’
As a songwriter and a musician, Christos is the rare artist who can seamlessly navigate between genres. He does so extremely effectively on his latest single, “stranger,” which he unveils today. Taken from his upcoming all fades to dust record, the song is a nice slice of modern and vintage pop, alternative and indie rock. There’s also an ’80s pop radio element to the song, with its driving beat and electronic components.
In life, people grow close to us, but sometimes, those people are the ones who drift the furthest away. That’s kind of what Christos is talking about in “stranger.” We can’t do much to control the way people change, and with that can come great individual pain. It’s particularly painstaking when that person essentially begins to fade away. They become someone who shares very little in common with that individual you once felt such a connection with.
Discussing the song and how it fits into the EP, Christos states:
“‘stranger’ is a track I wrote about watching somebody you once loved slowly turn into someone you don’t know anymore. It plays a massive part of the storyline of my upcoming EP all fades to dust, a project I crafted around the narrative of watching what you had with an important person slowly fade into nothingness right before your eyes. This song speaks on the healing process that comes after this loss, plus trying to find yourself again and mend what’s been broken. It’s also the final taste before the full EP on the 22nd of February.”
Situated in Brisbane, Australia, Christos really began to emerge over the last year. He began to garner more listeners through international radio and Apple Music playlists. He also began to define himself as a live act, performing several shows across Australia. This past October, he headlined his first hometown show at The Valley Loft, playing with his live band for the very first time. One of the highlights of Christos’ 2023 was his collaboration with Paris Shadows on the song “wrote u a letter.” Shadows is a rising star in his own right, an LA-based hip-hop artist with a rapidly growing audience. Christos has accomplished a lot in recent months, but it’s quite clear he is only scratching the surface of what’s upcoming.
