KILLCODE – “Let’s Get Back to Rock n Roll” [Song Review]
Clear-cut and down-to-earth, KILLCODE’s “Let’s Get Back to Rock n Roll” (Mother West) delivers powerful surfaces of raw, elementary rock and roll.
Rock outfit KILLCODE reveals the music video for “Let’s Get Back to Rock n Roll,” a track from their recently released album, Life, Death, Rock n’ Roll.
KILLCODE is Tom Morrissey (vocals), Chas (guitar), DC Gonzalez (guitar), Bobby Flores (bass), and Rob Noxious (drums). Their sound blends Southern rock with tints of metal, hints of blues, and the visceral punch of straight-ahead rock muscle.
Along with releasing four albums and a cluster of EPs, KILLCODE has performed at Bang Your Head Festival in Germany, Rockfest Barcelona in Spain, Hell and Heaven Fest in Mexico, and Riverside Aarburg in Switzerland. The band has shared the stage with Rammstein, KISS, Aerosmith, Five Finger Death Punch, Twisted Sister, Queensryche, Alter Bridge, and Airbourne.
The video, directed by David Swajeski, features shots of the band in the studio, dazzling aerial footage, and close-up and personal images of KILLCODE shaking the rafters in the clubs and bars of NYC.
“Let’s Get Back to Rock n Roll” begins with stentorian voices, followed by potent guitars riding a taut, hefty rhythm. Full of retro ’80s energy reminiscent of Mötley Crüe, the song snakes with blues savors fused to archetypal rock essence.
“One late night strong island with the band / Makin’ noise with the boys, then a change of plans / Bolt of Lightning …no power to our toys / Won’t stop us, no here we go / We hear you crying out / But we need it louder.”
