Singer Miriam Weinkle drops the remastered version of “Bewitched, Bothered, and Bewildered,” which she originally recorded back in 1964 at Miami’s Criteria Studios. Today, Miriam lives in Aventura, Florida.

The recording session was unrehearsed and spur-of-the-moment. A friend, who worked with many of the ’60s top recording artists, organized a time for Miriam to pop into the studio and record the song.

Not long ago, the original 45 rpm vinyl was discovered in a box tucked in a closet. Modern mastering techniques were applied, and voila—Miriam’s unplanned rendition of Rogers and Hart’s iconic song was resuscitated.

After hearing the demo, Peggy Lee said, “I think she has a lovely voice quality, good range, and comfortable phrasing.”

“Bewitched, Bothered, and Bewildered” travels on a sparkling piano, riding brush percussion and a delicious, plucking bass. Miriam’s velvety, crystalline voice imbues the lyrics with nuances of longing and melancholy. When her voice elevates, it takes on striking vibrancy.

“I’m wild again / Beguiled again / A simpering, whimpering child again / Bewitched, bothered and bewildered am I.”

More than 50 years after it was first recorded, Miriam Weinkle’s performance of “Bewitched, Bothered, and Bewildered” evokes tantalizing elegance and charm.
