JunkBunny Continue Their Emergence with “Another Summer Song” [Video Premiere]
We have a giant, steaming pile of “junk rock” for you today, brought to you by the one and only, JunkBunny. It’s that time again for “Another Summer Song,” and this one is courtesy of this budding band; the trio has delivered their brand new music video (the first new music since the release of their debut Junk Rock EP).
The guys enjoyed some breakout success last fall with the release of their debut single “Sedona” and are following it up with this hard-driving new track, a song that really does suit its title. “Another Summer Song” just has a warm feeling to it, a single with a 1990s alternative rock spirit that would have fit perfectly into the teen movies that ruled the day back around the turn of the century. It’s indicative of the growth that the group members have gone through recently, with the three of them sounding more cohesive than ever.
Checking in with a comment on the video shoot, the band stated, “We had one camera, a couple friends and a whole lot of time on our hands to make a music video. We wanted to portray what summer feels and looks like to us.”
It’s amazing to consider just how far JunkBunny has come in such a short period of time. Lead singer and guitarist Mac Johnson, bassist Cayden Diebold, and drummer Jake Douglas are still just 18 years old! All three of them have been playing instruments at various levels of proficiency since they were in the early years of grade school. They got their start playing ‘90s alternative rock covers at school talent shows before emerging as a local force in high school. They began playing more and more concerts in and around their native Houston and even were afforded the opportunity to open for some rock legends such as ZZ Top, Jon Bon Jovi, and Sammy Hagar.
The band’s burgeoning talent did not go unnoticed by the industry, as the highly regarded Howard Benson was so impressed with them that he agreed to produce the Junk Rock EP. It’s equal parts talent, tenacity, and relentlessness that has driven JunkBunny to this point while they are still so young. All of this bodes well for the continued emergence of JunkBunny as a growing national act to keep a close eye on.
