Hear Black Pumas’ Passionate Cover of Tracy Chapman’s “Fast Car”
Austin, Texas-based, Grammy-nominated soul merchants, Black Pumas have unveiled a passionate cover of the Tracy Chapman classic, “Fast Car.” The twosome, which consists of vocalist Eric Burton and Grammy-winning producer and guitarist Adrian Quesada, released their self-titled debut on June 21, 2019, via ATO Records. For fairly logical reasons, the release was quickly met with glowing critical acclaim resulting in sold-out shows the world over.
Commenting on the cover, Burton shares, “To me, ‘Fast Car’ is a song of hope, dreams and a relentless heart to go somewhere and be someone. I learned the song when I first began to busk and of the covers that I knew, it garnered the most attention from the random passerby. As a musician and artist, I’m attracted to songs that make us reflect on our daily struggles for making life worth living for.”
The release of “Fast Car” is accompanied by the popular new B-side, a new mix of the band’s existing single “Fire” (hear it below). In other news, tomorrow, June 10th, Black Pumas will perform a remote livestream set as part of the virtual benefit concert A Night For Austin.
