93PUNX Release Video and Mini-Doc for Cover of The Cranberries’ Classic “Zombie”
Rock trip 93PUNX has shared a music video and mini-documentary for their cover version of “Zombie,” the classic track from The Cranberries. The timing aligns with the former band’s recent milestone of the original music video surpassing 1 billion views on YouTube. 93PUNX’s cover embraces, according to a recent press release, “the universality of the message… [and] reflect[s] the current strife of race relations within the U.S.”
Guitarist Dru DeCaro shares the following, “We got to educate the young people, that’s how you get people not to hate that which they don’t know. There is richness in knowing about other cultures. There’s a lot of world experience that really can make your life better. So the mission is, how do we speak to the young people and how do we educate them and fill in the blanks so we are led by love and not fear.”
Written by songwriter and frontwoman Dolores O’Riordan, “Zombie” came to be while her band was on tour in London and the 1993 Warrington bombing transpired.
