The Chaos and Carnage Tour is rampaging across the US right now with Whitechapel and Dying Fetus co-headlining the bill. The line-up was stacked with brutal death metal and deathcore bands and they each wreaked havoc at the Pressroom in Phoenix, AZ on May 4th.
Opening the show was Uncured, a progressive death metal band from New Jersey who got the fans sweaty and excited for the following acts. Next up were a couple of bands from the San Francisco Bay area – tech death demons Fallujah and deathcore maniacs, Spite. Both bands continued the dastardly, deathly metal delivery and very few concert-goers could’ve complained about their performances.
Boston-based tech death masters, Revocation, hit the stage next and powered through a set of fan-favorites that saw folk flying around the venue with reckless abandon. As if things couldn’t continue to get better, SoCal deathcore dudes, Carnifex were up next and showed why they’re a headlining act in and of themselves. They flexed their carnage muscles and basically blew out the Pressroom’s speakers.
Wondering what show sounded like? Here’s a solid example with Whitechapel’s “Brimstone.”
After what seemed liked a festival’s worth of extreme metal, with fans at varying degrees of exhausted, sweaty, bloody and drunk, it was finally time for the co-headliners to do their thing. To end the night, Greater Upper Marlboro, Maryland’s Dying Fetus proved why they’re the “Wrong One to Fuck With” and played several slamming songs off their 2017 release of the same name, Wrong One to Fuck With.
Last but not least, Whitechapel, touring in support of their recent release, The Valley, which dropped March 29th via Metal Blade Records (read our album review here), ripped through a hellishly energetic set that was awe-inspiring. No wonder this band’s fans are so rabid. There’s still a few shows left in this tour and we highly encourage you to check it out should a date be in your neck of the woods.
