CHASTITY, GREYS and CASPER SKULLS Rock The Rec Room Before ALEXISONFIRE Shocks Everyone! [Photos & Show Review]

Chastity took to Toronto’s The Rec Room on February 15th to perform their latest effort, Death Lust, in full alongside supporting acts Greys and Casper Skulls. The Whitby, Ontario-based headliners offered fans a surprising bonus treat by premiering a film revolved around the record. That said, the real shock (and treat) came after the show in the form of a surprise performance from Alexisonfire!

Casper Skulls opened up the show but, unfortunately, the venue was not as packed in as for the other acts (normal given the time of day). For those that got to experience their softer rock vibe, however, when compared to the other bands playing, it was a treat and a good way to ease into the night. Greys followed with their deafening (in a good way) noise rock. With what I’m guessing was an anime of some sort playing on the projector playing behind the stage, they brought a whole different feel and look that set them apart from everybody else. A Toronto band to keep an eye on in the future.

Coming straight from a House of Strombo session, the post-hardcore group took up the headliner’s encore to play a few songs from their earlier records. They may have only jammed out three songs, but absolute hell was being raised for the short time fans had with the group. From vocalist George Pettit throwing fans off the stage and even whipping one with their own belt, to guitarists Wade MacNeil and Dallas Green having non-working mics, leaving George as their personal mic holder, it was something to behold. All of this is coming after Alexisonfire recently released their first song in nine years, “Familiar Drugs.”

AoF recently announced a string of shows in the summer, including a two-night stint in Toronto. Chastity will also be doing a run of their own in the spring supporting Dilly Dally.

“Heaven Hell Anywhere Else” was the first single from Chastity’s debut album, Death Lust, released last year.
