On a recent visit to the UK, Martin Bisi recorded a blistering live version of “Waves On My Mind” at Yellow Arch Studios, Sheffield.

Martin Bisi is a producer, engineer, musician and central figure in New York City’s musical history of the past four decades. Bisi and Italian label Bronson Recordings recently released BC35, an album paying tribute to the 35th anniversary of BC Studio, and serving as a unique document of the New York City underground.

BC Studio – the Brooklyn studio Bisi founded in 1979 with friends Brian Eno and Bill Laswell, and still owns and operates to this day has recorded landmark music by Sonic Youth, Swans, Unsane, Afrika Bambaataa, Herbie Hancock, John Zorn and so many more. Bisi’s name is synonymous with the New York City underground.

I have an unhealthy obsession with bad horror movies, the song Wanted Dead Or Alive and crap British game shows. I do this not because of the sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll lifestyle it affords me but more because it gives me an excuse to listen to bands that sound like hippos mating.
