The Rebel Light – “Where Did All The Love Go?” [Song Review]
“Where Did All The Love Go?”, a single from Los Angeles trio The Rebel Light, is a poppy elegy to the good old days and the way things used to be.
“Where Did All The Love Go?”, a single from Los Angeles trio The Rebel Light, is a poppy elegy to the good old days and the way things used to be. Although the song has a summery, lighthearted vibe (encouraged by the background trumpets), its lyrics are as dark as any metal track, claiming “She’s a devil in disguise” and “I’m my own worst enemy in the end.”
Despite being catchy, it’s this incongruity that ultimately makes it hard to truly enjoy. What is this song really trying to portray? What’s the story here? More importantly, is it best added to a happy, beachy playlist or to a sad one? Although it’s easy to listen to, it doesn’t feel like it’s saying anything original or even staying true to itself.
