City Of Thieves – “Incinerator” [EP] [Album Review]
New UK rockers City Of Thieves have got their debut release out of the way now it’s time to put their own unique stamp on the music scene if they’re going to compete.
London rockers City Of Thieves haven’t been peddling their wares that long and, listening to their classic rock-inspired sounds on their debut EP, Incinerator, while it does show a band who have something about them, there is still that niggly feeling you get from listening to a new act who are yet to put their own individual stamp on their music.
You see, while Incinerator does contain four tracks of solid classic rock, those four tracks also sound like every band that has influenced them. From AC/DC to Guns N’ Roses, you can hear it all through the barroom swagger of opener and title track “Incincerator” while there are moments further on in the EP when you feel like you’re listening to something akin to Airbourne, but minus the balls-out, beer-soaked attitude.
On the plus side, City Of Thieves have the swagger and they’ve certainly got the ability to write decent classic rock but, from here, they really need to put their own unique trademark on it to stand out or at least compete with the bands who are already way down the road.
