Prolong The Agony – “All We Are” EP [Album Review]
It’s great when bands like Prolong The Agony come along and prove the doubters that heavy music can be creative and intelligent. Read our review of their new EP here.
It’s not very often that you hear a band who can push the boundaries of the metalcore scene so hats off to Prolong The Agony for taking the metalcore genre and shaking the fuck out of it. Fresh from their deal with respected UK label, In At The Deep End Records, their new EP, All We Area is a fine slice of progressive, technical, ferocious heaviness that should certainly win them a fair few fans in the metal scene.
Demonstrating plenty of musical prowess about them, the band unleash five tracks of thoughtful, powerful, brutal metal as opener “Dead Dreams” sets the tone for the rest of the EP with its blend of throat-wrecking, catchy metalcore and powerful lyrics. The rest of the EP follows similar suit as the band throw together a cocktail of devastating riffs, brutal breakdowns and soaring melodies with the combination resulting in tracks like “Backstabbers” where Prolong The Agony really show what they’re capable of when they open up their progressive metalcore wings and let fly with a monster of a song.
In a time when originality is a rarity, bands like Prolong The Agony who push the boundaries of their genre by creating powerful, thoughtful, intelligent heavy music should be championed all the way. Consider this one a highly recommended release.
