The jazz-fusion band, Trioscapes, featuring Between The Buried and Me bassist Dan Briggs, drummer Matt Lynch and their very own Sexy-Sax-Man, Walter Fancourt, are pushing the musical envelope once more with the release of their sophomore masterpiece appropriately titled, Digital Dream Sequence.

The record is comprised of five tracks, each one set to take you on a journey of epic proportions. The intricacy and technicality of each instrument’s respective parts are without a doubt impressive, but what really made my brain melt into a puddle of awesome is how well the flute, saxophone, guitar, and bass melded together and so smoothly flowed throughout the album.

There are no vocals, and I firmly believe that this kind of jazz does not require lyrics to convey their message; it comes through crystal clear by way of their instruments.

The track “Stab Wounds” has nuances of the progressive Between The Buried And Me heaviness, accented with the most in-your-face flute solo I have ever heard. “From The Earth To The Moon” will take you there and back in about 8 minutes, with rising and falling tempos, and extremely imaginative percussion parts throughout.

In short, Digital Dream Sequence is a rollercoaster of passion from open to close and I highly recommend it to any progressive music fans, or anyone simply looking to expand their musical horizons and get a little cultured.
