The Skinny: Manchester’s incendiary indie four-piece City Reign are to release new live single “See What It’s Worth”, on 24th March. Their debut LP Another Step received widespread critical acclaim upon its release in February 2013, sparking interest from national press – Q, Uncut, The Independent, Clash, This Is Fake DIY – and resulting in two UK and European tours.
The band’s classic take on indie rock was captured by producer Sam Jones, who has previously recorded with Arctic Monkeys frontman Alex Turner. He used the natural reverb of Salford’s Sacred Trinity Church to add depth to their sound, and the result is a record that stands head and shoulders above the indie landfill. Previous single “Making Plans” prompted plays from Steve Lamacq on BBC 6Music, who declared them to be one of his favourite new bands, and spins have accrued from Amazing Radio and BBC Introducing too. “See What It’s Worth” looks set to follow suit – its screeching guitar riffs and impassioned vocals proving that Manchester has another band to champion in its long history of musical success.
