Album Review
Blessthefall – “Hollow Bodies”
Hollow Bodies is the fourth full-length release from the Arizona-based metal act Blessthefall. Opener “Exodus” sets things in motion and midway through the song it became quite clear that this album was going to be a monstrous slab of metal. The band’s unique way of blending post-hardcore and progressive metal with light electronica is adventurous and oftentimes surprising; rapid fire machine gun breakdowns give way to unexpected tempo changes, driving rhythms, and killer riffage that keep you guessing as to what comes next.

There is no doubt that this is a heavy-as-hell affair, but it is also extremely melodic and I think here, on Hollow Bodies, the group has achieved the perfect balance between the two. After more than a decade in the scene I feel that Blessthefall has hit their full stride with this newest offering.
Lastly, I cannot close out this review without mentioning the disc’s absolutely fantastic production. Producer extraordinaire Joey Sturgis has done a phenomenal job creating a pristine sounding environment that allows all of the group’s varied elements and instrumentation to shine through. I suggest checking this one out when it drops on August 20th, it’s freaking good!
