Album Review
Skyline Pigeons – “House of Mysteries”
Sisters Roxanne and Caroline Teti’s band Skyline Pigeons mixes a lot of shoegaze with indie rock/pop. The resulting album House of Mysteries, while not incredibly original, is however incredibly well-played and catchy. According to the band’s bio, this release was inspired by loss over wildfires, and while the album does have a certain gloomy cast over it, it also has an aura of hope.

Most of the songs sound radio-ready and it would appear that the band could do quite well for themselves with the right promotion. The first half of the album is the best, with some extremely catchy music reminiscent of Hole, while the second half is not quite as strong – even though it does have some bright spots to it (see “Fire She Blows”). Overall the album is a fairly decent debut and shows that these girls do have the potential to be stars. Let’s see how they shine on their next effort.
