Album Review
The Crimson Armada – “Conviction”
Last year Columbus, Ohio metalcore act The Crimson Armada were sentenced to create a follow-up to their Metal Blade Records release, Guardians. Through their time in musical incarceration, the band wrote and recorded their sophomore effort and Artery Recordings debut, Conviction. The disc consists of 11 rad tracks which see the band switch between thrashy riffs and dirty breakdowns. Occasionally they also bring in some simple piano giving the music a more mature sound and helping them to stand out amongst others.

Vocally this album has the same shouting and shrill screams they boasted in the past but, this time around they’ve also incorporated the high-sung choruses that bands in the scene are currently using. Speaking of voices, one may notice A Plea For Purging’s Andy Atkins and Miss May I’s Levi Benton lent their voices to the album (check track listing below to see who cameos on which song).
The Crimson Armada have been convicted by PureGrainAudio of having great music. I shall sentence them to keep making future albums like Conviction. Hopefully they don’t ape musical trends or disband so they can finish their solemn duty of keeping metalheads everywhere happy. *hits gavel* Review dismissed.
