Geared Up
Geared Up: Textures Guitarist Bart Hennephof on His Peavey 6505 and 5150
A lot of bands in the world means there’s a lot of gear out there too. Some bands like to experiment in setup and tones and some like to just hold it down true to their craft. With that being said, I had a chance to sit down with Bart Hennephof of Textures and talk about the Peavey setup he uses to get his unique heavy metal guitar sound.

What’s the one piece of gear you use to obtain your signature sound?
Bart: Well it has differed on every album and most tours, but for the last little while it has been the Peavey 6505 and the 5150, always coming back to me because it’s that main sound of that heavy guitar you always hear.
What makes it so important to you?
Bart: The 5150 in itself is the most widely used amp in Metal I feel. We have tried Mesa and Marshall in the past but the Peavey has a more transparent yet direct sound.
What are the major pros and cons about your gear?
Bart: The cons are that are it’s fucking heavy and the pros are that it’s a simple set up. All I use are the Peavey and a TC Electronic G-Major effects unit so it’s real simple set up.
