Blink 182 – “Up All Night” [Song Review]

It seems like ‘90s bands just can’t resist getting back together these days. The latest in a long line of reunited groups is punk rock trio Blink 182; back after a few years apart when singer and guitarist Tom Delonge left the band in 2005 to form Angels & Airwaves. Blink has been touring off and on for the last couple of years and now are set to unleash their comeback record (and first in eight years), Neighbourhoods on September 27th.

Fortunately enough for fans starved for a new song, Neighbourhoods first single “Up All Night” has just dropped. The song is pretty classic Blink with catchy hooks and a great chorus, but definitely not just a recreation of past hits. What’s different about “Up All Night” is that it shows a degree of musical maturity in the band’s sound. The music sounds more developed and advanced as compared to the classics like “What’s My Age Again” or “Dammit.” It also has a harder edge to it as the band rips away at their instruments to begin and end the song. Although not quite at the height of their big hits from the past, “Up All Night” offers enough oldness and newness to please even the most cynical Blink diehard.

Run Time: 3:21
