Geared Up
Gear Review: Hemoptysis guitarist and vocalist Masaki Murashita on his Providence Cables
Guitarist and vocalist Masaki Murashita of the Arizona based metal band Hemoptysis spoke with me recently about that one piece of gear he uses to obtain his signature sound. Hemoptysis has been creating quite a buzz in the business as of late, based mostly on their hard work ethic and monster metal sound. Here’s what Masaki had to say about his favorite piece of gear – his Providence cables.

What one piece of gear do you use to obtain your signature sound?
Masaki: Providence Cables. I exclusively use Providence Cables, specifically, the Z102, B202 and V206 series.
What about it makes it so important to you?
Masaki: A lot of people don’t know, but cables make a huge difference in your sound. It is very important to have the “right cable,” and it affects your sound dramatically. Providence cables maintain the original tone and add some steroids to it and tighten it up.
What are the major pros and cons?
Masaki: The sound from using these cables is perfect. There’s not too much bottom end and less top end, or vice versa. You really need to try it. As for cons, there are none. I love these cables!
How long have you had it, how do you use it, would you ever change it?
Masaki: I have been using Providence cables for about two years. I’ve been using their cables live and in the studio for recording. Even when I produce and/or engineer other bands, I strongly recommend them to at least give the cables a shot.
Any final thoughts or comments on the gear?
Masaki: You can’t go wrong with these cables. You definitely should try them. You can check them out at www.providence-ltd.com and in North America, they are available at www.godlyke.com.
