The Skinny: On Burning Shores bring you an epic, arena worthy sound and stage presence and if you ever catch a live set, you will be rocking-the-fuck-out with everybody else in the room. These guys are going somewhere and are going there fast. If you like Killswitch Engage, or anything heavy for that matter, check these guys out. Heavy beatdowns that make you want to destroy something and hooks that will leave your neck in pain from constant bobbing is what is going to take these guys to the next level. Pick up their album Common Ground, learn the chants and lyrics, then make your way to an OBS show, rock out and sing along.
Their first album, Common Ground gets it’s title from the track of the same name. The lyrics in “Common Ground” are about the constant battle between the metal and hardcore scenes. Vocalist Mike Bacon wrote the lyrics as a statement on how both scenes love heavy music and how they should respect each other in both the pit and the world around us. Long story short, the animosity is utterly pointless.
Another aspect of this band that makes them stand out is their t-shirts. Weird, I know! Especially since band shirts are a dime a dozen. Though you can sport their regular band tee, which has the logo on one side and says “I Had Your Back” on the other, you can also purchase the “I <3 BOOBS" shirt. The shirt idea stems from seemingly eternal male fondness of the female chest; the "OBS" in the word boobs is written in red to stand out from the rest of the word. O-B-S being the initials of the band's name. When you purchase this shirt, five dollars of your money goes directly to breast cancer research, a noble feat by any band. Generosity aside, I see no reason why you haven’t already clicked on their MySpace while reading this article. [ END ]
