3 Pill Morning – “The Side Effects of Chronic Ambition”

The album’s very first track “Mindright” snatches your attention and proceeds to hold it for the next short, but sweet thirty-seven minutes. I found myself captivated and absorbed enough that I wanted to hear more. When I listen to 3 Pill Morning’s music I can hear elements of many modern rock bands but the group has funneled all of their wide-ranging influences into a sound that is strictly all their own. I would describe it as a modern rock sound with big guitar riffs and even bigger melodies. The upbeat rock n’ roll tracks and gigantic choruses will have you singing along in no time flat. This is Rock and Roll the way it was meant to be, straightforward and enjoyable.
I feel the band is at its absolute best on the harder edgier tunes such as the “Hey (Stay There),” “Want It Back” and “Without Telling You,” all of which are harder and heavier than the other tunes on the disc. By far the tune that stands out the most to me is “Disappear,” this is just a really killer tune start to finish. From a production point of view this disc sounds freaking great. It is big, it is polished and there are many songs that are very much rock radio friendly.
Overall, while 3 Pill Morning have not necessarily created anything new and innovative they have put together a very solid and tremendously enjoyable CD. There is an abundance of melodies and enough guitar riffs to keep even the most discriminate music fan entertained. I do not feel it will take long for 3 Pill Morning to be noticed and when they this happens, I would not be surprised to hear them flooding the airwaves. Bottom line this is a real good, high-energy, modern rock record and is well worth checking out. [ END ]
