Funeral Party – “Bootleg” [EP]
Propulsive beats abound on the Bootleg EP the latest release from the East LA band, Funeral Party. A melding of super-catchy club and radio friendly tunes with great big hooks, these guys have fashioned a disc that is sure to keep the listener moving and grooving.

Described by the LA Times as “a quintet of electro-charged youngsters from East L.A. At moments recalling the dance-punk revivalism of early Moving Units and The Rapture and at others bouncing along to a skittish cowbell like LCD Soundsystem,” I’d have to agree.
The groove is established right from the beginning and the momentum carries through all three tracks on his EP. The production is top notch and the vocals are a bit raspy and a bit edgy and provide a good contrast to the squeaky-clean pop/punk tones of the rest of the band.
I like this EP and I am looking forward to hearing more from these guys in the near future. Bootleg is a bit of tease and this EP has set the bar fairly high. With any luck the full length release from Funeral Party, which is due out later this year, will live up to it’s expectations. [ END ]
