THE THING Unveil Eerie Debut Soundtrack ‘Nightmares For Children (And Other Stories)’ [Exclusive Premiere]
Let us introduce you to York-based duo The Thing and their eerie debut soundtrack, Nightmares For Children (And Other Stories).
This will be something relatively new for most everyone who follows us. That being said, new ain’t band! Let us introduce you to York-based duo The Thing and their debut soundtrack, Nightmares For Children (And Other Stories). An eerie but captivating 30 minutes of music, the band has dubbed their music “hypnotic funeral drone”, and it’s pretty damn accurate.
According to the duo, who recorded Nightmares For Children (And Other Stories) live and raw at York’s Melrose Yard, they were inspired by drone and doom acts the likes of Sunn O))) and Godflesh, and made this music, “with the sole purpose to force people to recoil in absolute disgust.”
Drummer Dom Smith commented as follows: “This was so much fun to do. We had no goals going in other than to make the most abrasive, vicious noise that we could, raw and completely live at the time. I think we achieved that. It’s quite freeing. I recommend that more bands try it sometime!”
