Blossoms @ O2 Academy (Leeds, UK) on March 30, 2017 [Photos & Show Review]
Manchester indie favourites Blossoms rolled into Leeds on the latest date of their UK headline tour. Check out our review and photos inside…
About a year ago, Blossoms’ PR invited me along to see the Manchester outfit at an intimate headline show at the O2 Ritz with the promise that “this band are going to be big!” Admittedly the gig was packed but it was a hometown show so to be expected. However, we’re now twelve months down the line from that sweaty night and, in a few weeks, the band will be heading out to the States to support Two Door Cinema Club along with a run of their own headline dates and festival appearances.
Prior to that though we’re in Leeds to catch the Manchester youngsters at the O2 Academy where the band are headlining the latest date on this year’s NME tour and the venue is packed. Even before the band hit the stage the dancefloor periodically breaks into bouncing moshpits then when their set kicks off with “At Most A Kiss” this young crowd loses the plot. From “Blow” to set closer “Charlemagne”, there isn’t a moment this crowd aren’t bouncing or singing along with the band who put in a high energy stint throughout the course of their sixteen song set and show exactly why, in 2017, the Manchester indie scene is still alive and kicking.
Like I said, in a couple of weeks the band will be returning to the States to try and win over the U.S. market and, judging by tonight, they won’t have much trouble. Don’t you just hate it when PR’s are right?
