This past Thursday, I was fortunate enough to attend the exclusive grand re-opening of Dublin Calling, Toronto’s Irish inspired party pub and kitchen, at it’s new location 250 Adelaide Street West (Second Floor) right below Rock N Horse Saloon.  This allowed for a sneak peek of what’s to be expected for upcoming St.Patrick’s Day

The pub was already packed by the time I got there around 6:30, with classic tunes and remixes being spun by an energetic DJ. The theme is definitely Irish inspired, although it’s what I might refer to as ‘Urban Irish’, a modern twist on a classic. The ‘Urban Irish’ theme was also very prevalent in the food, taking small risks that totally paid off. Instead of being served your average Fish ‘n Chips, theirs came with some spice. Potato wedges were served with mustard, which I found to be a unique twist on a pub favorite. They also served deep fried pickles (which I couldn’t get enough of) mac and cheese pops, nachos and wings.

As far as drinks go, Dublin Calling is stocked with Irish pub classics like Guinness, but they also serve up mixed drinks. The special for the night was Dublin Twisted Daiquiris that came in huge twisty glasses, in all kinds of flavors. This was my drink of choice and it was definitely in demand.

The re-opened Irish party pub also features 4 dart lanes and a pool table, perfect for after work hang-outs or a casual Friday night.
