Portland, OR-Posi-core warriors It Prevails have premiered a new track “Break Away” (featuring guest vocals from Brendan Foley of Betrayal) on their Facebook page today. It was written the day before we went in the studio and it became one of our favorites.”
“We’ve done a few tours with Betrayal and I like Brendan’s vocals and his lyrics. It’s a mutual respect thing. When I asked him to appear on the album I gave him a few choices of songs and he loved this one. Lyrically it’s about society in general has a hard time accepting and respecting each other’s individual opinions. I believe we should respect each other’s right to have a different opinion regardless of it is different from our own. White, black, gay, straight or religion, the individual’s own thoughts should be respected.”
The band also recently premiered the track “Artisan” which featured guest vocals from Adam Jackson of Twelve Tribes. Speaking on that track Fike recounts “We have been fans of Twelve Tribes since before we were a band and were blessed to have played a few shows together. I hit up Adam to ask if he would want to join us on a track and he said to send him the track and if he dug it he would do it. He loved the track and drove up from his home and spent the entire day with us. His first take was perfect and after that he’s like, ‘do you have an album sequence?’ and we said no and he said ‘Let’s do this, play me the whole album’ and he went through each track and actually his suggestion of the album sequence became our final choice.”
Look for It Prevails on tour this August with No Bragging Rights on the “Beautiful And Spineless Tour” (dates can be found on the band’s Facebook page).
