Album Review
Rose Hill Drive
Self-Titled (08.22.2006)
Boulder, Colorado’s own Rose Hill Drive offer us a reminiscent and tasty treat with this 12 track record. One could go as far as citing Cream as one of the bands this album may sound like. It’s not a bad think to be compared to a band like Cream, but nevertheless the band, regardless of influences brings something original to the table. If you are into classic rock, but want something new and fresh pick up this self-titled record, it will be your new “drive to work” buddy.
Rose Hill Drive’s offering is a simple album really; not that many over dubs, hardly any harmonies. Just straight forward rock and roll, ain’t that the way it should be anyways? It’s an effortless and easy listen, calming at that. One which brings you back to some good ol’ days. One could debate what I’m about to say, but track 5 “In the Beginning” is so American-sounding, that I’m at a loss for words in describing it. It’s so cliché but yes very “Blue Collar” of them, now how many times can you say that about this band?
Rose Hill Drive has been penned by their fans the new “Led Zeppelin” but I’d have to disagree. Don’t get me wrong they have a great talent, I just wish they had a few more albums about before anyone even considered labeling them as such. I mean apples and oranges! Only time will tell if Rose Hill Drive will become a next Rock classic, but for the time being they at least have a great start. [ END ]
