Holding Absence Wow the Crowd at Worcester Palladium Upstairs [Photos]
Holding Absence brought the last night of their tour to a sold-out Worcester Palladium Upstairs, with support from Casey, Capstan, and Acres.
Saturday night came around, and Holding Absence brought the last night of their tour to the Worcester Palladium Upstairs. It was a sold-out show with bands Casey, Capstan, and Acres.
I’ve heard of the band Acres, as they’ve come up on my Spotify a few times. They are a post-hardcore band from England that played seven songs consisting of “Burning Throne,” “Into Flames,” “A Different Shade of Misery,” “My Everything” and closed with “Lonely World.” During their Worcester set, they had a couple of crowd surfers come up to the front, who were their first crowd surfers here in the US. Acres blew my expectations, and they’re definitely a band I will be keeping on my radar.
Up next was Capstan. I knew them from their song, “Wax Poetic,” which is one of my songs on repeat at the moment. They were another band that was great live! With a seven-song set, Capstan played “Bete Noire,” “Shades of Us,” “Heart to Heart,” and “Stars Before the Sun.” Check out this band when you have a chance!
Following Capstan was Casey! Casey performed well despite technical difficulties during the beginning of their set. They started with “Puncture Wounds to Heaven,” “Great Grief,” “How to Disappear,” “Bruise,” and “Fluorescent.” They closed with “Little Bird.” Vocalist Tom Weaver sings with so much emotion. I’ve been a fan of the band since I found them in 2018. I was bummed when they broke up in 2019 and then ecstatic when the band got back together in 2022. Their first show in the states I missed because I got sick, so I was excited to be approved to shoot this show!
Lastly, Holding Absence took to the stage. I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve gotten to see this band. If you know Holding Absence, they are a really high-energy group that makes the crowd MOVE. They opened with their song, “Celebration Song,” where you could see the passion coming from every member on stage. They had an hour set, consisting of cuts like, “Gravity,” “Like a Shadow,” “A Crooked Melody,” “In Circle,” and they closed the night with “Wilt.”
This band put on a performance to end on a high note for their last night of tour dates in the US. If you got to see this show, then you were lucky to be there to witness a great night. Here’s to the next one!
