Annika Catharina Shares New Country Single “What if I”
Country artist Annika Catharina has released her new single, “What if I,” written by with support from fellow country artists.

Country artist Annika Catharina has released her new single, “What if I,” available now on all DSPs. The song was written by Annika Catharina with support from fellow country artists Parker Graye and Brettyn Rose, along with the song’s producers, The Renaissance (Dan Botch and b).
“What if I” is the first new music of 2024 for the Abbotsford, BC-based artist after a successful 2023 highlighted by the singles “Better” – which landed on Spotify’s “Fresh Finds” and Sirius XM Top of the Country radio in Canada – and “Broke It,” which earned placements on Amazon Music Canada’s Just North of Nashville and Breakthrough Country playlists. As the second collaboration between Annika Catharina and The Renaissance, the engaging country flavour of its banjo and big drums set an energetic tone that matches the artist’s strong and exuberant vocal delivery.
Annika explains the inspiration for the single:
“This song was inspired by a past friendship where we were both too afraid to express our true feelings. Our false comfort ultimately stopped us from acting on how we felt and taking a chance together. It can be confusing to know where you stand with someone early on, so this song is about having the confidence to take a risk and believing in all the good things that could come from taking the next big step”
With the release of “What if I,” Annika Catharina is digging deeper as both an artist and songwriter while also using this love-inspired single to serve as a broader metaphor for anyone who wants to take a risk that could bring added confidence and fulfilment.
In addition to her recent success, Annika’s backstory is quite inspiring. Suffering from the experience of a devastating accident as a young adult resulted in facial reconstruction for Annika, forcing her to rebuild her inner spirit and accept the changes on the outside. She’s overcome that challenge and is thriving through her love of music.
