Country artist Annika Catharina has released her new single, “What if I,” available now on all DSPs. The song was written by Annika Catharina with support from fellow country artists Parker Graye and Brettyn Rose, along with the song’s producers, The Renaissance (Dan Botch and b).
“What if I” is the first new music of 2024 for the Abbotsford, BC-based artist after a successful 2023 highlighted by the singles “Better” – which landed on Spotify’s “Fresh Finds” and Sirius XM Top of the Country radio in Canada – and “Broke It,” which earned placements on Amazon Music Canada’s Just North of Nashville and Breakthrough Country playlists. As the second collaboration between Annika Catharina and The Renaissance, the engaging country flavour of its banjo and big drums set an energetic tone that matches the artist’s strong and exuberant vocal delivery.
Annika explains the inspiration for the single:
“This song was inspired by a past friendship where we were both too afraid to express our true feelings. Our false comfort ultimately stopped us from acting on how we felt and taking a chance together. It can be confusing to know where you stand with someone early on, so this song is about having the confidence to take a risk and believing in all the good things that could come from taking the next big step”
With the release of “What if I,” Annika Catharina is digging deeper as both an artist and songwriter while also using this love-inspired single to serve as a broader metaphor for anyone who wants to take a risk that could bring added confidence and fulfilment.
In addition to her recent success, Annika’s backstory is quite inspiring. Suffering from the experience of a devastating accident as a young adult resulted in facial reconstruction for Annika, forcing her to rebuild her inner spirit and accept the changes on the outside. She’s overcome that challenge and is thriving through her love of music.
Frank Viele Releases His Brand New Single “Sleepless Nights Alone”
Singer-songwriter Frank Viele has released his brand new single “Sleepless Nights Alone” from his upcoming ‘The Trouble With Desire’ album.
Milford, CT native and current Hamden, CT resident Frank Viele is prepping to release a brand new album entitled The Trouble With Desire, which is set to exhibit the musician’s exceptional storytelling and strong roots in a wide range of genres from heartland rock and blues to folk and country.
To further introduce the project, Viele returns today with his newest cut from the forthcoming LP, “Sleepless Nights Alone,” along with an accompanying lyric video.
2023 was a big year for Frank Viele, as he became the first Connecticut artist to win the prestigious award for ‘Act of The Year’ at the 2023 New England Music Awards. Viele thus follows in the footsteps of previous award winners, including Grace Potter & The Nocturnals, Dwight & Nicole, Ryan Montbleau, Air Traffic Controller, Sarah Barrios, Deer Tick, Lori McKenna, Martin Sexton, Liz Longley, Chris Trapper, Adam Ezra Group, The Mallet Brothers, and more.
Earlier this year, Viele shared another new single entitled “Mountains We Can Climb.” Previously, 2023 found him sharing an additional handful of singles — “Hearts We Left Behind,” “The Trouble With Desire,” “Claws,” and “Trying To Raise A Man” — which were recorded in Muscle Shoals, Alabama. This is the town that launched the careers of legends such as Aretha Franklin, The Allman Brothers, and Wilson Pickett. It is also the place where The Rolling Stones recorded “Wild Horses” and which boasts the roots of modern greats such as Jason Isbell, Chris Stapleton, and The Alabama Shakes.
Received with glowing reviews, these four songs made their way onto outlets across the industry, including American Songwriter, Boston’s Country 102.5, and NPR. He additionally toured nationally as both a headline act and also as a support act for rock legend John Waite, Season 9 American Idol winner Lee DeWyze, and folk rock troubadour Jeffrey Gaines.
Frank Viele’s newest single, “Sleepless Nights Alone,” is out now via all DSPs. Stay tuned for more information on his forthcoming full-length LP, arriving later this year.
Buckstein Premieres His Good-Time Single, “Ride with You”
Country artist Buckstein wants you to have a good time with the premiere of his fun-loving new single “Ride with You.”
Out of all the major genres of American music, Country is the one that’s just as much a lifestyle as it is a genre; just ask our featured artist Buckstein, and he’ll tell you. Today, the singer-songwriter reveals his new single, “Ride with You.” He has been a lifelong loyalist to the Country sound and way of life, and “Ride with You” gives you a good indication of that.
It’s more than just a country tune, though, with its heavy guitar-driven approach. It’s certainly a good-time kind of tune, one that would play well at a Country bar. Imagine a live band and plenty of drinks being shared amongst friends. Buckstein refers to himself as a man of country music, and it’s that down-to-earth, free-flowing attitude that makes him so easy to like.
Discussing his new single, Buckstein tells us:
“‘Ride With You’ invokes the feeling of a buzzing, neon-soaked bar where you’re two beers too deep and still gunning for more. It’s a night out where anything can happen, and you never know where you’re going to wind up. You might lose yourself in a scene, or someone, or a song.
“After writing a few lyrics, we decided we wanted a constant ‘chant’ in the song and ‘find a little love in the haystack’ came out of the blue, but it sounded good so it stuck. I also get to play a bit of a character in this tune which was super fun for me. I’m really looking forward to bringing that to the live performance.”
Straight up, no-nonsense, and 100 percent authentic, Buckstein keeps true to the cowboy code he grew up with. He views Country as a way to communicate, a medium to speak the truth and build a strong sense of community. His ultimate goal is to bring soul to everything he does, a passion that is easy for his listeners to relate to. Buckstein’s music is structured around classical ideals like honesty, integrity, facing your fears, and love. These are universal values that help make him more appealing than just an artist.
One of the best decisions Buckstein ever made was to join a few friends at an American Idol audition. It was when the auditions made their way through his native city of Denver. He didn’t take it very seriously at the time, but he ended up getting through and made it onto the show. He made it as far as the finale of the show’s fifth season. That decision to tag along for the audition was a life-changing move. The success and confidence he derived from being on the show have led him to this point today. Buckstein has paid his dues and nicely set himself up as one of the brightest young names in Country today.
