Los Angeles-based indie rock artist Pigeon Club releases his new single/music video, “Liar,” a track from his upcoming album, Another Year In The Minors, a collaboration with Grammy-winning co-producers John Would and Amy Wood. The album is set to be released in spring 2024.

Pigeon Club is the musical project of multi-instrumentalist singer-songwriter Wayne Whittaker, who, in addition to his own project, has toured, worked, and recorded with an assortment of artists, including Dawes, Diane Coffee, The Grand Southern, The Donnies, The Amys, Sam Small, Tiberius B, Alain Whyte, and Magana.

According to Pigeon Club, “This was a really hard song to write. Thankfully, the touched-upon themes are unmistakably human, so at the very least I’ve confirmed that I am indeed only human.”

Pigeon Club’s sound merges the intimacy of singer-songwriter overtones with jangly Beatle-like tangs and self-aware nods to dad rock while he explores themes of doubt, anxiety, and self-reflection with emotional transparency and modest humor.

“Liar” rides a swaying, rolling mid-tempo rhythm topped by layers of glowing harmonics – piano, organ, and softly gleaming guitars. The finessed percussion infuses the rhythm with a charming oblique feel that juxtaposes against Pigeon Club’s wistfully dreamy vocals, giving the tune splashes of melancholic-lite savors.

Sprinkled by a delicious familiarity that’s at once innovative and persuasive, there’s a wonderful naturalism and frankness to “Liar.”
