Henry Morris – “Sweet N Low” [Song Review]
“Sweet N Low,” recently released by Henry Morris, is a song able to completely envelop you in the thread of a storyline.
“Sweet N Low,” recently released by Henry Morris, is certainly a track that caught me by surprise. The song begins with a massive crescendo into the chorus, rather than the typical start with the first verse. The song immediately brought me back to my 2014 grungy self, obsessed with The Neighbourhood, alt-j, and Arctic Monkeys.
“Sweet N Low” has that beachy feel of The Neighbourhood’s original album but simultaneously evokes the image of a mysterious woman in a dive bar smoking a cigarette that you so desperately want to talk to but don’t have the confidence to. There’s something to Morris’ voice that lingers somewhere between a rasp and a whisper in your ear.
The sly sound effects throughout, including a gunshot and birds chirping, all contribute to this song being able to completely envelop you in the thread of a storyline. I am so thankful that Spotify led me to Henry Morris, as I am now nothing short of obsessed.
