SMOKE AxD featuring Hoya Roc Unleashes Debut Single “Smoke All Day”
Underground music legend Hoya Roc founds the new band SMOKE AxD and releases their debut single, “Smoke All Day.”

Underground music legend Hoya Roc has founded the new band SMOKE AxD and released their debut single, “Smoke All Day.” Hoya Roc has been an institution in the underground music scene for over three decades, playing bass in the legendary New York Hardcore band Madball. Recently, he decided to part ways amicably with the band to focus on other pursuits, such as expanding the reach of his Smokin Word TV/Podcast network. During this time, Hoya has never once thought about quitting music. His DIY work ethic, along with boundless creative energy, led him to compose original music as the soundtrack to his multimedia projects. In addition, he had been stockpiling his trademark heavy riffs and earthshaking grooves to unleash his newest creation upon the world, SMOKE AxD!
The genesis of SMOKE AxD involves the combination of 2 of Hoya’s passions: heavy music and cannabis. Hoya had completed songs and lyrics just waiting to be brought to life. He then focused on what musicians he could get who shared his love of big riffs and big spliffs. Hoya had been wanting to start a band with his close friend and brother, Lord Ezec (Crown of Thornz, Skarhead), for years. No convincing was needed; Ezec was immediately on board.
Next would come the addition to one of his regular smoking partners on the road over the years, guitarist Sean Martin (Hatebreed, Twitching Tongues). Long-time friend and drummer Dimi Douvas (Crown of Thornz, Stillsuit) rounded out the lineup. Hoya then contacted producer extraordinaire Zeuss (Rob Zombie, Queensrÿche, Hatebreed) to help produce and record the project. With everything in place, the band got together to record their first single, “Smoke All Day,” which is accompanied by a music video and a making of video to give fans some insight into the band’s creative process.
Lyrically, the band is about positive vibes and overcoming life’s many obstacles. Hoya and his bandmates have all been through their share of life, love, and loss over the years. Musically, he describes their songs as heavy, metallic and with a doomy urban groove that will, as he says: “Take motherfuckers heads off!”
