The term electrifying is thrown around quite easily, but we can’t help but ascribe it to Mantooth, who today are happy to reveal their brand new music video for “I’m the Romantic.” There’s nothing about Mantooth that is meant to be subtle or modest, and that is the way they like it as a band who, when they aim, aim high.

Like many others in the Mantooth catalogue, “I’m the Romantic” is a frenetic track with an equally frenetic music video, a wild and sometimes comedic affair that represents everything that’s quintessential about a classic punk video. If you’ve gotten to know Mantooth at all, you’d know that part of their charm is that oddball element to their presentation as an act, and rest assured, “I’m the Romantic” contains all of that.

When asked about “I’m the Romantic,” all frontman J. Mantooth had to say was:

“I’m scared to play it backwards… The devil may be in there.”

Maintaining what was special, and building off of their last record OU81Tooth, their new album Mantooth in Love is musically centred around their proto-punk approach, mixed with rockabilly song structures and dynamics. It has eight new tracks, plus a remake of “Flamethrower Love” by The Dead Boys, which has been a staple of the Mantooth live set nearly from the get-go.

Originally from Boise, Idaho, these boys have come a long way since their formation, really finding their niche in an oversaturated marketplace of knockoff bands. Even with the “weird” factor within the band, they take what they do extremely seriously, and it shows with rippin’ new tunes like this one.
