Premiere: Bluphoria Shine Bright on Their New Single, “Ain’t Got Me”
Nashville-based unit Bluphoria are keeping the spirit of classic rock and roll alive with songs like their new single “Ain’t Got Me,” a nice sign of what’s to come on their début via Edgeout Records/UMe/UMG.
As exciting and dynamic as the rock world is these days, there’s something particularly charming about old-time rock n’ roll that you don’t find within today’s scene. Thankfully, we have bands like Bluphoria who are keeping that classic spirit alive with songs like their brand new single “Ain’t Got Me.”
You can hear that vintage element within the song structure and melodies that harken back to when rock music was more closely intertwined with blues and R&B music. It’s a nice little transition back to what Bluphoria does best, away from their holiday-themed single, “When The Snow Falls,” which they closed off 2022 with. Now it’s back to business with the blues and psychedelic rock which they are becoming known for.
About the song, frontman Reign LaFreniere shares:
“‘Ain’t Got Me’ is one of the oldest Bluphoria songs I’ve written. It was one of those songs that made itself after I had the chords and is a bit of a nostalgia trip for me that I hope others can relate to.”
“Ain’t Got Me” is a nice little sign of what’s to come on Bluphoria’s forthcoming debut record, which they have finalized and are set to release soon via Edgeout Records/UMe/UMG. The young Nashville-based unit, composed of LaFreniere, rhythm guitarist Dakota Landrum, bassist Rex Wolf, and drummer Danie Janae, began recording the album last January when they picked up and drove cross country to Tennessee, where they recorded alongside GRAMMY-winning producer Mark Needham, known for his work with The Killers, Imagine Dragons and Fleetwood Mac.
For a band that only started playing together in sophomore year at the University of Oregon and is already this sharp, we’d feel pretty confident that these kids are going places.
