Ice Nine Kills bring their Thanx-Killing Fest to the Tsongas Arena in Lowell, MA! I’ve been going to this show for years, and it’s been amazing to watch this band grow in that time. INK brought their “Trinity of Terror pals,” Motionless in White and Black Veil Brides, along for the fest while Areyu opened the show. The Trinity of Terror tour has gone around three times now, and I’m just getting to this one show; wow!

While I’ve seen every band on this tour multiple times, I had not seen Atreyu before. They opened up the show with an eleven-song set and had the crowd hyped for the rest of the night. Atreyu started with their songs “Strange Powers of Prophecy” and “Baptize” and ended with “Blow.” They were great live, and I’d see them again.

Black Veil Brides came on next and started their set with the song “Crimson Skies.” They mostly played their newer singles and bangers like “Fallen Angels” and “Knives and Pens,” where everyone sang along to the words. Many fans were dancing in the crowd and aisles and screaming the lyrics during their set. When BVB ended with “In the End,” the fans were very happy. At one point, vocalist Andy Biersack told the crowd to “get the fuck up,” and they were jumping along with him.

Up next was Motionless in White, and this group can never do any wrong. They catch you right in with their opening song of “Disguise” and then “Sign Of Life.” They also played an eleven-song set with most of their newer tunes. Every song was a hit, and the fans enjoyed a good time. During “Werewolf,” I saw fans dancing along as the song went to the techno beat. Towards the end, Motionless played their cover of “Somebody Told Me” by The Killers, which had the whole audience dancing and singing since that song is a classic at this point in our lives. They ended the night with “Eternally Yours,” which I heard later on that a fan got proposed to in the crowd. I wish I could have had my camera there for that!

Now the reason we even had this Thanx-Killing fest was for Ice Nine Kills! They ended the night with a performance I hadn’t seen by them yet. Everyone walks on stage with suits and ties as the smoke disintegrates, and they start their night with “Funeral Derangements.” Every song had its own little personal wardrobe changes, but nothing was too drastic either; everything flowed. Spencer may have murdered a few people on set, too; oh well? All for a good show, I guess? There was also fire; did I mention that yet? Because I don’t think I did. When “Stabbing In The Dark” came on, I was ecstatic since that’s my favourite of theirs. All the songs they played were from their last two albums, The Silver Scream and Welcome to Horrorwood: The Silver Scream 2, so for the most part, most of these songs were the first time I saw them live. They ended the night with their song “Welcome to Horrorwood.”

The whole night was honestly perfect for an emo girl like me to ask for! Every band killed it, and I highly recommend you see this show if it’s coming near you. There’s still half the tour left if you hadn’t seen it by its third time around.

I got into photography in late 2017/ early 2018 even though cameras have always interest me. I've been working with mostly local bands in the New England area since mid 2018 and working on growing my craft since then. I love shooting live shows. The energy the bands give on stage can be such a powerful experience and I want to be able to capture that moment for a lifetime!
