With His Project The Adventures of Anacleto, Alex Santilli Premieres the Single “Non Dimenticarmi”
Alex Santilli returns with his latest project, The Adventures of Anacleto and the new single “Non Dimenticarmi,” the third to be released off of the brand new EP ‘Felina Maria Clara,’ due out in November.
As a musician, there’s no mistaking the vast artistry and creativity that drives Alex Santilli. Santilli is back with his latest project, The Adventures of Anacleto and the new single “Non Dimenticarmi,” the third to be released off of the brand new EP titled Felina Maria Clara, due out in November.
Although he enjoys collaborating with others in the songwriting process, The Adventures of Anacleto is Santilli’s own proper solo project in which he shares his personal stories and experiences through music. The EP is named after his nonna, whom he was very close to, and the project name, The Adventures of Anacleto, is inspired by his grandfather, who was named Anacleto. Part of the reason for starting this project was to more fully share his life experience and perspective as an American with Italian and Argentinian roots.
Interpreting the new single for us and its significance, Santilli offers:
“‘Non Dimenticarmi’ translates to ‘Don’t Forget Me’ from Italian, and the song is a vignette delving into our different voices and urges we hear, see, and feel. Cultural taboo, lust, and desire, but still pursuing clarity and wholeness in the face of our world’s distraction from all that is. It’s a little worm inside your head. It’s about holding both the id and superego on each shoulder.”
Santilli takes an interesting approach to songwriting. It’s mandatory that it is done in a comfortable, laidback environment surrounded by friends at home. He then uses the approach of chopping up ideas and sampling these sessions to blend them all together into actual songs. It’s a collage-like approach, where ideas start off one way and change a lot throughout the songwriting and recording process.
The Adventures of Anacleto was started as a character for Santilli to distance himself from himself, but nevertheless, his songs are very much based on real-life experiences. He paired down a couple of dozen recordings to come up with the final track listing for Felina Maria Clara, which will join together his interest in soul, psychedelia, bedroom pop, and jazz fusion. This is just the tip of the iceberg, with many more songs already coming down the pike.
