Premiere: Innovative UK Songwriter Chris Cleverley Paints Apocalyptic Picture in New Single “Still Life”
Innovative songwriter Chris Cleverley paints a picture of a ravaged world in bold new single “Still Life”. Check out our premiere here.
UK dream-folk artist Chris Cleverley has been described as “a true innovator of the UK songwriting scene”. The Three-Counties based Cleverley is among a new wave of pioneering artists carving an uncharted path through the UK acoustic landscape, with endorsements from The Times, The Telegraph and BBC Radio leading to his receipt of FATEA Magazine’s ‘Male Artist of the Year’ Award.
Currently readying himself for the release of his long-awaited fourth album, Broadcast The Secret Verse, in November 2022, an album produced by the great John Patrick Elliott (The Little Unsaid/Reveal Records), the thought-provoking songwriter is premiering “Still Life”, the second single to be lifted from Broadcast The Secret Verse with V13.
Check out the new single here:
Painting an arresting picture of a dystopian world, ravaged by climate emergency, “Still Life” is an anthem for those tired of screaming into the void, powerless to halt the pace of the ever-churning global industrial machine. A song to accompany a summer of unprecedented heatwaves, natural disasters and lifted fracking bans.
Speaking about the emotional track, Chris explained:
“Still Life paints a vivid, apocalyptic picture of a world drained of vitality and essence, as nations fixated on progress, growth and conflict hasten the deterioration of our natural world. It’s an anthem for those tired of screaming into the void about this kind of thing. Musically it’s a paradigm shift for me; a window into the sound of the new album coming out this November.”
The track also cements Cleverley’s position as a vital articulate voice of the UK songwriting scene and, with the release of his new album in November, expect his rising popularity to head only one way.
Following the release of Broadcast The Secret Verse, Chris will head out on tour across the UK in November.
