Galactic Share Reworked Version of “Something’s Wrong with this Picture” feat. Ivan Neville and Anjelika “Jelly” Joseph
New Orleans-based funk group, Galactic has shared a reworked version of their classic track, “Something’s Wrong with this Picture.” Originally released in 1996, the updated version of the single includes vocals from Ivan Neville and Anjelika “Jelly” Joseph, plus those of original member Theryl “Houseman” deClouet (deceased in 2018) who sang of the injustices and inequalities that face black Americans.
Commenting on the new release, bassist Robert Mercurio shares, “In light of the current events, we felt the original message of this song has a very strong relevance today.”
Previously, the band contributed to The Bail Project through the group’s own Tip-it Foundation. Adding more context, drummer Stanton Moore states, “Faced with the gravity of recent events, we felt that redoing this song now would hopefully spread a message of awareness. We believe that we need to do more to show that we stand with our Black musicians, friends and heroes against violence, injustice and inequity. We will not be silent. Black Lives Matter.”
“Something’s Wrong with this Picture” originally appeared on Galactic’s debut album, Coolin’ Off.
