Avril Lavigne Unveils “We Are Warriors,” a New Version of Her Single “Warrior”
Avril Lavigne has today released the new single “We Are Warriors,” a re-recorded version of her song “Warrior” which is found on the artist’s sixth studio album, Head Above Water. Lavigne chose to re-do the song in light of the COVID-19 pandemic and has partnered with Project Hope, an organization that aims to empower local health care workers globally. All net proceeds from the song and video’s sales and streams will assist with Project Hope’s continued COVID-19 relief efforts.
Commenting on the track and reason she made it, Lavigne says, “I felt the need to do something to honour all of the frontline workers who risk their lives every day to keep us safe. From the doctors, nurses, police, fire fighters, grocery workers, delivery services, all essential workers and the brave volunteers. I am humbled with gratitude and want to dedicate my new song ‘We Are Warriors’ to everyone putting their lives at risk to keep us safe. You guys are the ones that are holding the world up right now and we’re all counting on you and relying on you. You are Warriors! We all need each other more then ever right now. Now is the time to fight and to stick together. Be kind, be safe, be a Warrior and support our mission at CharityStars.com/Warrior.”
Lavigne’s latest album, Head Above Water, dropped in February 2019 via BMG and marked her first album in five years.
