Hugar Reveal Their Newest Music Video for “Grandi”
Icelandic duo Hugar recently debuted the final quarter of a stunning audio-visual journey focused on four tracks – “Saga,” “Ró,” “Órói,” and “Grandi” – from their August-released record, Varda. Dropped on October 29th, “Grandi” is the final instalment in a four-video series that takes audiences to a dystopian and all-too-real setting that explores the relationship between human beings and their natural environment. Alongside the soundtrack that develops from sparse, classical piano riffs into almost-post-rock ambience, the “Grandi” video goes full circle as it tracks the cyclical nuances of light and dark and the delicate inter/intra perspectives of all living things.
The band’s orchestral and minimalist sound is in and of itself a haunting, melancholic, and ruminative odyssey, and the accompanying video series only serves to heighten the already powerful experience. Check out Hugar’s YouTube page to enjoy all four of the Varda videos. Released on August 23rd via Sony Music Masterworks, the fourteen-track album is a riveting blend of classic and modern genres, tethered together by sprawling sonic landscapes and heady, provocative thematics.
