There’s nothing “vestigial” about Grand Rapids, Michigan’s metal quartet Vestigial. Sure, there are hoards of cookie-cutter acts drowning in a sea of similar artists but this group more than stays afloat thanks to some melodic-yet-thrashy, death-infused heavy metal in the vein of DevilDriver and Sylosis. The tunes are catchy, and deserving of a much broader audience, hence our desire to help further push the band’s name to you, our readers. Today, supporting the Vestigial’s latest single, we’re now offering a free, high-quality MP3 download of “Dethroned.”

Released on July 9th, 2019, via your typical download and streaming services (check the dudes on Spotify), “Dethroned” is the lead single taken from the guys’ forthcoming album, Crown Of Serpents. The thirteen track neck-snap-fest is set for a November 2nd release and can already be pre-ordered in digital and physical versions, along with various merch options. Head over to Bandcamp to stake your claim!

Speaking of the new single, guiraist and vocalist Michael Thomas Stellema said, ”‘Dethroned’ is the first song on the upcoming album Crown of Serpents. It introduces the concept which follows the story of a king that becomes possessed by an ancient crown that takes him down a dark spiralling path. The concept goes metaphorically with the idea that our greed and vices can change the outcome of our goals. The same dark vibes are reflected in the music as well.”

Now that you have the song, check out the accompanying “Dethroned” music video:

Rounded out by guitarist and vocalist Tyler Stellema, bassist Joey Barnett, and drummer Mike Miller, Vestigial was born during the spring of 2016 and quickly began gigging locally which in turn created a following. The foursome’s quality was not lost on anyone and resulted in supporting slots of acts the likes of We Came As Romans, Whitechapel, Miss May I, and the aforementioned DevilDriver. Writing, rehearsing and further hard work resulted in their 2018 debut, Fallen Skies. Now, already armed with a follow-up full-length (one which was recorded at Broken Monolith Studios and mastered at Rogue Planet), things are about to get even heavier for this rad band.

Upcomingn Show Dates:

On the eve of the site’s 15th anniversary, a full re-launch and rebrand takes us back to our roots and opens the door to a full suite of Music, Film, TV, and Cultural content.
