The Cadillac Three – “Legacy” [Album Review]
Crammed full of feel-good tunes (a lot of which are about drinking), this release will uplift even the most miserable individual.
America’s deep south has always had a vibrant music scene and given the world some A-class musical talent, and The Cadillac Three are rapidly making their mark as well. With the release of their third album, Legacy, the band have toned things down a notch to deliver a truly spectacular offering that lives up to the title. Crammed full of feel-good tunes (a lot of which are about drinking), this release will uplift even the most miserable individual.
Kicking off the record in style is “Cadillacin’”, a cheerful and twangy tune of southern perfection with lead singer Jaren Johnston highlighting everything that rocks about, well, Cadillacin’. Next up, all you ladies best remember to put that black dress on and get out the whiskey as Johnston is coming back to “Tennessee”, a tune that delivers a sublime mix of classic rock with country. Even tracks like “Dang if we Don’t” give you an uplifting feeling; this is one I strongly recommend having on your hangover playlist!
My personal favorite, however, would be “American Slang”. Like pretty much every tune on this spectacular outing, it hits all components of a catchy sing along country tune whilst seamlessly treading the rock n’ roll line. This is a song that would be best enjoyed either sitting on a porch enjoying a cold one, or as the sun is setting over the stage at a music festival.
Truth be told, I simply cannot say a bad word about Legacy. Yes, it’s a little more chill than its predecessors, but it embraces the true roots of southern American music. If they hadn’t before, The Cadillac Three have solidified their place in the rock scene and, as the album titles suggests, will leave a legacy!
