Wah Wah Club – “I Ain’t Got The Time No More” [Song Review]

Reminiscent of bands like The Strokes and The Eagulls, and a lot more The’s I could mention, the Bucks-based quartet just released a single that will inevitably bring up memories of the British Invasion in the early 2000’s, while managing to hint at future strengths which presently remain to be seen.

There’s one begrudging thing I am willing to admit about all these English asshats I’ve had to tolerate since I’ve moved over to the UK: they can really make a single. Frustrating as it is, their proclivity for making me bob my head, knock my knees, or tap my feet is rife, and nowhere is that clearer than on this new single from Bucks-based quartet Wah Wah Club’s new release, “I Ain’t Got The Time No More”.

Flying the same velocity and area as the early 2000’s that other Brit-based superstars such as Bloc Party and Arctic Monkeys once mapped out, there is a disaffected approach present on this single that is more resonant of recent times, in a world cultivated by more cynical and miserable approaches, without being dragged down by it past the point of not having fun.

Which is exactly what this track manages to do, while tipping its hand that underneath the popular veneer of pop rock lies a band that has a greater yearning to flex its skillset. What remains to be said about the band will have to be said once they go ahead and just release an EP already, but in the meantime you’ll have to tap your feet in 3:07 increments.

Run Time: 3:07
Release Date: October 7, 2016
