The Skinny: Mondo Drag, the Bay Area transplants SF Weekly said of “where the forefathers of heavy psych and prog-metal left off in the mid ‘80s, Mondo Drag has picked up today,” share new song, “Rising Omen,” from the forthcoming album The Occultation of Light (February 26, RidingEasy Records) via SoundCloud.
“Rising Omen is about the cyclical form of time, the passage of light, the changes that happen within this cycle and how it all starts over again. The song begins and ends in the exact same way, mirroring the lyrics in their reflection of the daily oscillation between light and dark,” explained vocalist/keyboardist John Gamino. The Occultation of Light was produced by Phil Manley (Trans Am, Wooden Shjips), recorded live, tracked and mixed on analog tape at El Studio in San Francisco.
